From Grasse to London: my fragrant journey
My transition from Grasse to London has been an extraordinary odyssey, a testament to the power of dedication and passion. It all commenced back in 2021 when I first entered the halls of the Grasse Institute of Perfumery. What initially began as a series of summer school courses swiftly evolved into a profound desire to fully immerse myself in the realm of fragrance making.
While completing my one year master at the institute, I had the privilege of experiencing the entire spectrum of perfumery, from engaging with local farmers to walking through Chanel's fields and personally handpicking flowers for distillation. The hands-on approach to learning really forged a deep connection with the raw materials, making me understand their essence in a manner that textbooks could never fully capture.
Within the institute's laboratory, I honed my skills in scent composition under the guidance of renowned professors and professionals of the industry. It was here that I cultivated the ability to blend ingredients with precision and finesse.
Yet, beyond the academic pursuit, it was the breathtaking beauty of Grasse that left an indelible mark on my soul. The hills and endless array of blossoms stirred an incredible passion within me that I had never before experienced. It was in this natural splendour that I truly felt the call to pursue perfumery as my vocation.
However, as much as I cherished my time in Grasse, I found myself irresistibly drawn to the dynamic energy of London. The city's vibrant arts and rich cultural scenes promised amazing opportunities for growth and exploration. With a mind enriched with knowledge and aspirations, I embarked on a new chapter in the heart of England's capital to pursue my career in perfumery!
In London, I was offered the privilege of working for Floris, a venerable brand with a legacy spanning nearly three centuries. Here, I delved even deeper into the world of fragrance, acquiring invaluable insights and experiences that would shape my trajectory for years to come. From crafting unique scents for special clients to creating fragrances for the brands’ protfolio, each moment hinted at the endless opportunities ahead.
As I reflect upon my journey from Grasse to London, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities that have unfolded before me. It has been a voyage marked by unwavering passion, tenacity, and a profound love for the art of perfumery.
